Took a tour of Clark Memorial Hospital. I like it, for a hospital. Don’t like some of the policies. Think it is stupid they wont let you birth in the water. I wish I had more support for a home birth.
Hi Katie, I would have LOVED a homebirth for my children...still would like one one day (though not sure if having anymore)...I found the next best thing was a doula in hospital, the education I got with the doula before the birth was pivotal and really played a big role in making me feel more in control of the birth, it was much more positive than my first birth experience. Hope you raise the money for one, as it really is worth it. xx
I am pretty happy with what I have set up now. I would still very much prefer a home birth, but the hospital I will be going to is not as bad as a lot here in the states. I do have a midwife, but she is a hospital midwife, who has to follow hospital rules. I am slowly starting to trust her, so I wish I had more time to get to know her. 15-20 minutes every other week is just not enough for me. I do have a doula in mind and I like her a lot. I will have my women with me (two sisters and both my Mother and Mother-in-law), and of course Alex. But I would like a person who is not attached emotionally. Who has all the information, and does this professionally. I have been thinking of looking into becoming a doula. It would be a great thing that would make me feel like I was the path I want.
